The two had a shaky relationship at first, not hitting it off very well, but Hilda realized that she and Brendan had more in common than she originally thought. The two slowly become friends, and after witnessing Brendan tying up the loose ends that existed in his life, Hilda realized that she had to go back to Unova and tie up her own.

She didn't want to continue running away anymore like she always had. Upon hearing that Hilda would be returning to Unova, Brendan made the offer to go with her—wanting to conduct research there anyways—and the two became traveling companions. During the time that she was challenging the League, Hilda ended up obtaining a Mega Stone for her Samurott, achieving Mega Evolution with him.

She ended up winning the league in the spring of , but turned down the oppertunity of challenging the Champion League—instead wanting to continue traveling the world and bonding with her Pokemon.

After, she returned home and faced her parents, and she cut herself from them clean. During this time, she also managed to rekindle her friendships with Bianca, Cheren, and Hilbert. Not long after, N managed to find her her and the two talked about their dreams.

Both wanted to work towards a changed world where Pokemon and people would be able to live together in full understanding, and each would achieve it in their own ways. The two said a final farewell, knowing they might cross paths again one day as they worked for the same future. After that day, Hilda continued to travel the world—challenging gyms and strengthening the bonds she had with her Pokemon. Brendan also continued to travel alongside her, and the two ended up dating in the process.

Eventually, Hilda decided to settle down with Brendan in Slateport City, Hoenn, where she opened up her own gym, specializing in bonds and Mega Evolution, in the fall of She married Brendan in that same year, and then later proceeded to have a child with him—their only daughter, Amber—in November of Hilda continues to run her gym in Slateport today, but she can also be found traveling around the area to help solve conflicts between people and Pokemon.

She offers her advice and guidance to young trainers who might be struggling with what it means to be a Pokemon Trainer, and helping them strengthen their own bonds with their Pokemon. By doing these things, Hilda hopes that one day her ideal world where people and Pokemon can coexist in harmony will be accomplished.
