When was pauls third missionary journey

Paul revisited Macedonia and Greece Achaia as he had planned see Acts He then went to Troas where Eutychus fell out the window while Paul was preaching Acts Next Paul went to Assos, and on to Miletus, a coastal town near Ephesus. There Paul made his touching farewell speech to the elders from Ephesus Acts Paul sailed from Miletus around by Rhodes and past Cyprus, then down to Tyre for a week's respite with the kindly disciples there.

After that he made his way to Caesarea to stay with Philip the evangelist. As in Tyre, here also in Caesarea there were prophecies that bode ill for Paul in Jerusalem. But he was resolute Acts In this third journey, we notice that Paul, in most stages, had many companions travelling with him, including Luke himself at times. They witness Paul casting out demons and decide to try his method for themselves.

They run into someone possessed of an evil spirit and attempt to cast it out of the person. The response they receive is totally unexpected! What happens next to the seven sons serves as a warning to anyone who assume to have the authority of God to command powerful evil spirits.

As the sons learn, merely using the name of Jesus does not guarantee the ability to access His power Acts - After what happened to the sons of Sceva many who practiced magic repented of their deeds and burned their books of spells and other evil-related practices Acts - An Ephesian silversmith named Demetrius, who makes a significant profit creating small replicas of the pagan goddess Diana and her temple , becomes concerned about a recent loss of business Acts - The preaching of Paul in the area has persuaded many people to stop purchasing and using idols, and to abandon altogether the worship of false gods like Diana.

The goddess Diana is zealously worshipped in Ephesus and in other places around the empire. The city of Ephesus is famous for possessing the Temple of Diana Artemis , which in modern times is considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Demetrius the silversmith organizes a meeting of fellow tradesmen to discuss the drop in idol sales. During the meeting a riot breaks out. The crowd finds and seizes two of Paul's traveling companions.

When Paul wants to talk to the mob some disciples stop him from doing so and jeopardizing his life Acts - The riot is eventually quieted by a city clerk Acts - The worship of Diana is so well-known and universally accepted that, according to the clerk, there was no danger of it being destroyed by the evangelist and what he taught.

The clerk chides the crowd for their unreasonable fears and warns them there are consequences if they continue being disorderly!

The riot soon disperses. John 11 Feb. Luke 12 Feb. Luke 13 Feb. Luke 14 Feb. Mark 15 Feb. Mark 16 Feb. Mark 17 Feb. Mark 18 Feb. Mark 19 Feb. Mark 20 Feb. Mark 21 Feb. Mark 22 Feb. Mark 23 Feb. Mark 24 Feb.

Sailing along the major coastal towns of Phoenicia, Paul and his companions arrive at Caesarea where they stay at the house of Philip the evangelist.

After a number of days, a prophet named Agabus comes to Paul, takes his belt, ties his own hands with it, and prophesies through the Holy Spirit that in the same way Paul will be bound and arrested in Jerusalem by the Jewish leaders. Paul states that he is ready to be arrested and even die for the Lord Jesus, so he is going to Jerusalem anyway. Paul finally arrives in Jerusalem, officially ending his 3rd Missionary Journey.

Since he had spent 3 years in the city of Ephesus, this whole journey must have lasted 4 or 5 years, from roughly 53 AD to 58 AD. Following his arrival in Jerusalem, Paul is arrested and jailed for two years, eventually being sent to Rome as a prisoner. The book of Acts ends with Paul as a prisoner in Rome for two years, but evidence from later letters suggests he was released, conducted a fourth missionary journey, and later was arrested again.

Church tradition states that Paul was executed by Nero sometime between 64 and 67 AD. This site uses cookies. By continuing to browse the site, you are agreeing to our use of cookies. Privacy Policy.
